Monday morning 10° above + pleasant

Stoughton February 18th 1945

Dear Doris

This is our first sunny day here for a week + coming on Sunday it seems good. its cold the wind is in the cold quarter. but up in my room, in the front chamber, where the sun has lain all the forenoon, its very warm. this is the warmest room in the house. the closets on both sides keep out the cold wind.

We have just been to dinner she has something she can get quick after she gets home from her meeting. so we had fried fish haddock. with boiled potatoes + broccoli for desert rice pudding baked without eggs, which was very good. she sang a solo + every one was praising her so guess it must have been sung very good.

Every one she sees speaks of my birthday + all say they are coming up to see me on my 90th birthday. we are not giving any party but if they choose to come, we will give them a cup of tea + a piece of cake. Laura was here last Thursday + brought us a dozen of eggs Blanche Hammond told us she would bring a big cake + we shall make some sandwitches they can have. Kate Dykeman is coming + every
