2 feet of snow came during the night, will winter ever end? Ma

Stoughton, February 4 1945

Dear Doris

We are having sunny but quite cold days next we may have rain & slush which has been prophesied in to days paper. The boys are still coasting down the hill & making fun while they can & also slippery going.

Frank Reynolds was late for rehearsal last Friday night & Norma Raynie who always sides down with him on the corner was waiting for him to come half an hour in the cold, finall [[finally]] walked down to the church. She said she was frozen stiff, so today she wasn't in the choir. took a hard cold. she is a beautiful singer & Frank worships her. her husband is in the army she has three beautiful little children & is a great addition to the choir. Mabel Golcord was there, she has a good voice.

We had a fish chowder & cabbage salad for our Sunday dinner & it tasted good. Meat is very hard to get these days, we manage to get along on some. we got a can of sausages & hamburg stake [[steak]] to carry us through the week. do you ever get any cod checks in fish there's no bones in it, we have it often & like it.

I have been sewing on those sheets you sent & have got them nearly done. they will come handy this summer & were worth doing I thought.
