home on the train with Gertrude out of Boston. The Ballantine roomer has left & they have one other in his place, they also get $8. dollars for his room they are lucky. Mrs Ballantine is all used up. she was there alone & had to go down sellar [[cellar]] to clean out & fix it up as she thought there was no one home to stop her. so she couldn't sleep all night, her knees were aching so. she cried & took on, Addie said it served her right she shouldn't have done such a thing as there was no need of it.

We have still a lot of snow on the ground no one comes to our porch door, as we only have a path to the front way. but now our milk has just come so must top and go to get it and not let it freeze. the frost has just melted from the windows so I can look out, they were white with frost before the sun came out. the first time they had been so this winter.

I am writing my letter early so the Postman can take it when he comes with the mail around 10 O'clock. your bundle with the nighties came yesterday afternoon along with the package of figs. well hope winter will go soon as this weather no one likes. love Ma
