Stoughton January 21st 1945

Dear Doris

We heard over the radio Saturday morning that you were having a snowstorm in Washington & that this morning it was sunny. this is the first pleasant Sunday we have had since christmas.

It is pleasant but cool. my wash that was hung out on the porch is frozen stiff. we bring in our clothes & they thaw out & dry during the night it makes the clothes white to freeze. last week there were very few drying days we thought we were lucky to have done our washing the first part of the week & get our clothes dried.
She has been to church & is now getting our fowl ready to cook for tomorrow. we have been to dinner & had a good one, fried haddock fill a squash sweet potatoes & grape nut pudding for desert.

Our snow still covers the ground. all our folks come to the front door, letter carriers, milkman, paper boys, & groceries, one good path is all I can support these days. & sometimes that has to be dug over every other days. we are having more snow this year than common. & shall be glad when winter is over.

We may later on have our January thaw. the snow is very deep now on the ground & it will be terrible going to melt it now with either sun or rain.
