[[note]] Mr and Mrs Filcher have just been here to make a call, they have gone now over to call on the Ballantines old neighbors. We used to enjoy them & were pleased to see them. [[/note]]

Dear Doris,

This is a very cloudy day but not as cold. We have been having cold weather most all of last week & terrible icy, slippery going & the boys coasting down the hill makes it still worse.

To day the ice seems to be melting in the roads & if it will rain it will take the icy going away.

The autoes have hard work from skidding very dangerous. I hope you have better going down there.

We have just been to dinner we had fried cod cheeks such as they sell for folks to make chowders of. we like it for frying as theres [there's]] no bones & its cheaper. Then we had baked potatoes, turnip & pickle lilly & butter scotch pudding a very good dinner. & now I am writing my letter up stairs in the front chamber. tomorrow being a holiday here the letter may not go. any way I will have it ready if they come. I am writing this on the paper you sent me christmas.

I sent your birthday present in the box with the other things. I had lots of Xmas cards one from Charley & his girl friend & also from Gladys
