I cant [[can't]] make it seem that Alice, their mother, has passed on. to be sure she was 85 years old. changeing [[changing]] her residence hastened her death & she had nothing to live for. now if Gladys would only marry it would be much better.

Miss Seriac spent Xmas with the Ballantines & they say she was never known to make any of them a present not when they were little children even. & she is for getting all she can out of them. her brother lived an awful life with her & guess he was glad to go. she had him sign his name to a will drawn up by a lawyer when he was about breathing his last, making over all his property to her. Mrs Ballantine told us that so it must be so.

Mrs Silver saves her eggs for us & we can get them much cheaper than we do of any one else & they are fresh. she likes Mrs Barry so she says. we only use them for cooking, we seldom eat them for breakfast.

It is still slippery folks slide along. but its fast going in the middle of the street. I have got our front walk well sanded, if this wild weather lasts it will soon melt away. or even the sun would do so. Well I hope you are having milder days I do believe the sun is coming out Love Ma.

[[note]] The snow disappeared & the weather is cold to might down to 0° [[/note]]
