of all her presents Mrs Barry liked that calender the most she has it in her room on her door.

Little Rodger & his mother came up in the afternoon with their presents. Rodger gave me a bag of Macintosh apples & a big box of chocolate drops, he calls me his "sweet heart". he is five years old & a very pretty & modest child. & when Mrs Barry kissed him he came over to me & I kissed him. his grandmother is Fannie Cameron they were going over their to a family party.

I hope you had a pleasant x mas with lots of presents. its a sad time when we think of this dreadful war going on & so many boys away from their homes. it will seem so good when this cruel war is over.

I hope now we get our letters more promptly. & you can get the letters from me sooner. now it takes a week to get your mail the poor office hands are over worked. they have to employ boys to help out. we were lucky to get our boxes started as early as we did. I got my usual calendar from Miss Carolen Scheber she is very good to send it every year. I should miss it now if I didn't get one they are nice. well I must get this letter out now for the post man to take

love Ma
