think of grandma Pa's mother. did it pay her? I am glad your painting occupies a part of your time & gives you a chance to recuperate. work is all right. if you dont do too much. so to take it out of you. do be careful.

Mrs Barry has given me a Xmas present of a lampshade for the sitting room it became all unfastned when she rode home from Brockton on the crowded bus & it being such a shape was hard to carry. so she gave it to me the night she came home. & I made her a present of a pink hood to wear nights to bed. your box sets up at the head of the front stairs to be opened on Xmas day.

I was glad to get your letters. they were late owing to the holiday rush & three came after waiting a week without any mail from you. I had one letter Saturday & was greatly relieved, after the great wind you had in Virginia. I have done my washing to day & hung the clothes on the Porch. they dont dry but I can leave them out there through the night.

My tomatoes she made them into chili sauce & Pickle lilly & they will be good all winter to eat on beans & meat. We are fond of them & its a great saving for if you buy it, they cost .35 for a two ounce bottle. well this is all I can write so good luck

love Ma
