their dinners with Mrs. Tilden I remember how she used to praise the stuff they raised.

Well I was up stairs serving yesterday afternoon sitting at the window when an auto drove up & stopped at our house & Charley & his woman were in the car, they called to see if we would like to take a ride, which of course we did. They took us up throug [through] the old neighborhood & down through Fields Parkway & by [illegible] French way home. he was showing his woman the places where he was born & where he used to live & up by the Servall neighborhood as far as the Vermont Wentworth house, where he turned around & went home. Matty Servalls house is occupied. they had curtains up at the windows & if Alice had stayed there, I think she would have been alive today. Gladys was staying at Burt's over the weekend.

We are going have a chicken for Thanksgiving dinner. Turkey is too high, we just as soon have chicken. I hope you have a good frost this year & Sidney enjoys it. he is deserving of everything good. too bad he has to go so far to work & you have to get up so early in the morning.

Well so long I am sending this Merchants Day. see you Saturday.

love Ma.
