Dear Doris

I am glad to see it pleasant to day. yesterday we never saw the sun all day. The wind blew a gale from the North West, it was terrible cold. our heat went on about two O'clock & made it more comfortable even so it seemed good to get into bed with my hot stone at night. I have moved into the front chamber and find it more comfortable where the heat goes on in the morning & it is warm to dress in. I even take my bath there its [[it's]] so warm as I cant [[can't]] get in & out of the tub alone.

Mrs. Barry has not been to church this morning as they were going to have a colored preacher to take Mr Bradners [[Bradner's]] place in the pulpit as she is too much of a Southerner to go to listen to a darkey man preacher Sunday so has stayed at home & made pickle lilly it tasted good. we had some for our dinner. Saturday she made some chilly Sauce with some of the ripe tomatoes. This morning we could sleep late in the morning. We put out our papers so the truck took them about 1/2 past 12. O'clock. I was scart for fear our terrible wind would blow
