Dear Doris

We are having cool weather. it rained during the night & has not cleared much during the day. so far. I did my weekly wash but dont [[don't]] expect things to dry. now she has just got home from church & is busy getting our dinner.

The trees are beginning to show their pretty colors & I have pickled most all my tomatoes they will ripen in the house in the store room. we shall put up some for winter occasionally.

The minister announced from the pulpit the death of Wendell Wilkie which seemed sudden. his sickness came over the radio at 8 O'clock this morning. 62 years old.

The weather reports say frosts to night [[tonight]] and much cooler the cloudiness may be due to a change in temperature. it seems good to have milder weather. I was looking up into the tree out in my tomato patch yesterday + saw great bunches of grapes that no one had been able to get but the birds can enjoy them I guess. too bad you lost your grape preserve.
