Stoughton June 7th 1944

Dear Doris

We had a windy day yesterday which ended in just a little rain at night. just enough to lay the dust. we are all praying for rain. my tomatoes were set out Monday & watered by him in good shape. to day they look great. he said they were looking better than his were, when he came to set them out. I wish he had brought some fertilizer but may later on. he was much pleased with the money you paid him. I think it was more than he expected perhaps we like him. he seems a good honest man.

Mrs Barry has gone down with Edith Rose to make bandages for the Red Cross & Winnie carries them down when she takes Richard to the movies. he goes three days in the week & sits in the balcony where the boys cant haze him.

I hope Sidney can get his vacation as you say he may be able to, for guess he needs it now if any one does. the change will do you all good.   I think the houses around town all looked good to me. even our old place up to
