Dear Doris

This is a nice sunny warm day. yesterday was cloudy & cool, it looked like showers all day long but none appeared.

We had Careta, Phoebie Hill & Laura here, they came about 1 O'clock & stayed 'till six. she got some fresh lobsters & made a salad & stuffed some tomatoes, & made some rooles [[rolls]] & Phoebie brought a nice fresh chocolate cake which she told her she would bring for desert [[dessert]]. they had a most beautiful time. played cards & I sewed & went up stairs & laid down after dinner.

I went over to the other house towards night & looked at the trees. they were all alive & seemed to be growing some thrifty & others not so thrifty. they are as well as you could expect to find them.

My tomatoes are growing some have the 6th set of leaves. I wish we could get Mr Turner to set them out in another week or two. how can I get him to come over to bring some fertilizer. he can ride here on his bike but what is his telephone call? I dont remember.

Our house is very cool by our not taking off our outside windows no hot air
