Dear Mr. Ruhmer:

A few weeks ago - at the time of its release - I requested my publishers, APPLETON-CENTURY CROFTS, 60 East 42nd Street, New York 17, N. Y., to forward to PANTHEON a copy of my book "MERCHANTS OF ART" - Eighty Years of Professional Collecting, which I trust has duly reached you.

The fact that it is written in English, I feel certain, presents no problem to you or your staff and I am wondering whether you would consider it of interest to you readers.

My Father, to whom this book is dedicated - and half of its chapters at least refer to his activities - was a well-known figure in Germany in this field of art. In view of this, I am asking if you would entertain publishing a review of it in your columns of PANTHEON the leading art magazine in Germany, today.

May I point out that the topics refer of course to the past and several reveal the evolution of taste over these eighty years - German collectors and art historians such as Dr. Bode are perforce mentioned.

For your information, may I add that it has been reviewed by The New York Times and a great many newspapers in this country.

Your opinion as regards my suggestion would be greatly appreciated and in order to facilitate matters, please answer me in German which I do understandm [[understand]] - though I am not sufficiently fluent in writing it.

Thank you in advance for your kind manner, I remain
Yours very truly,

Germain Seligman
