Dear Mrs. Pratt:

I have been fortunate enough to secure an extremely fine man's portrait by GIOVANNI BELLINI, and I hasten to post you about it, as your's is one of the very few collections in New York worthy of this great painting.

The portrait, extremely strong in drawing, shows a beautiful contrast of black against blue.

In spite of its comparatively small size (H. 14" x W.11-1/4"), it has great monumental quality.

The attribution has been confirmed by both Mr. B. Berenson and Lionello Venturi.

I am glad to say that I was able to acquire this painting at a very reasonable figure, and the price I am asking is consequently of the same order.

I hope it will be convenient for you to call when next you are in this vicinity. If it were possible for you to let me know ahead of time, when this would be, I would appreciate it very much - as I would like to have the pleasure personally of showing it to you.

Trusting I may have thus the privilege of seeing you soon again, I am

Yours very sincerely,

(Germain Séligmann)
