Dear Mrs. Pratt:

May I thank you for your very prompt reply.

If I understand correctly, for some particular reason you do not wish to sell the tapestry this year, but I gather it doesn't preclude your doing so next year.

The party for whom I approached you would in no case make a decision in haste, so that the negociations might very well drag through the next few months. However, as long as - in principle - it is your desire to part with the tapestry, at your price, I do think that in your own interest it might be advantageous for you to allow me to talk this matter over with you. You will understand readily, that such a matter could not be carried out in writing.

Looking forward to hearing from you, I am,

Yours very sincerely,

(Germain Séligmann)
