I was greatly surprised to find that the R.R seemed to present no great difficulties. Having heard so much of the vast cost of its construction I looked for some signs of difficult engineering but was disappointed to see nothing but very ordinary difficulties. It seems that the difficulties were mainly those of management & not so much the actual obstacles of the route. This is rendered very evident by the stories told by men who were on the work in subordinate positions. The following  is a list of the stations on the road with aneroid altitudes.
