Returning to Lagunas I found Goldman awaiting me there with the outfit - On his way from Tehuantepec to Juchitan the horses & mules were wading up to their bellies in mud several times. [[strikethrough]] We remained at Lagunas over this night sleeping in the corrugated iron R.R. station. On June [[/strikethrough]] Being rather ill from a severe cold taken at Coatzoc. I went on into Tehuantepec to recuperate. On the 6th, having nerly recovered I returned to Lagunas & joined Goldman to continue the work. Slept this night in the corrugated iron R.R. station. June 4th Left Lagunas this morning & crossing the plain 5 or 6 miles to the indian town of Santo Domingo we located there for a week or so in order to get duplicate types of some mammals taken here by Dr. Buller. When I presented my letter to the Presidente he sent for the Secretary who read it aloud & then the presid. offered to do what he could for us. When I asked about getting a house he at once sent out & called in a man who has one of the best houses in town & after a little talk I was invited to inspect it. I did so & finding it a fair place built of adobe I accepted it whereupon the family at once moved out into a little hut next door & we installed ourselves
