As an illustration of the lack of enterprise & few wants of the natives this town is a good one. Although the town has over 3000 residents & in the township are 5000 people yet there is no store except a small affair having a few dollars worth of common supplies & a small drinking shop. The people wear cotton cloth which they buy or a coarse quality which they weave themselves. Nearly everyone goes barefooted & the men have a white blouse or shirt & cotton drawers. The women wear the huipil-jacket & enaguas but no headgear like the Tehuanas. The feast day of the patron saint came off while we were here- A palm-leaf arch was made near the church entrance and on the morning of the feast a procession of the priest & his assistants in full dress with the
