February 10th, 1939

Dear Ludy:

I was glad to get your letter of February 1st, and further very sympathetic with your understanding of the situation abroad reflecting in your not wishing to lend the drawing.

The rumor is circulating -- and mind you there is rumor -- that Schaeffer has your Dirk Bouts and that Hirsch has the Hugo van der Goes.

You will forgive my writing you about this or mentioning it again, but it is inevitable that I should feel a certain remorse if this be true.

In any case, give my very best to your wife, and we hope to see you both very soon when you come to New York.

With kindest greetings,
Yours very sincerely,

(Robert M. Levy)
