This indenture made this sixth day of December 1867 by and between the United States of the 1st part and Jasper M Paye and James Knight of the 2nd part Witnesseth
That late said Joseph M Page and James Knight for and in consideration of the covenant herein continued, do promise and agree to fit up the building in the Town of Georgetown in the County of Williamson,commonly known as the Old School House owned by the colored citizens of Georgetown and now occupied by them as a church, as a School House as follows. To repair the weather boarding level and underpin the floor of the house, put in 8 windows with sills complete, build a stone chimney, make & put up nine desks with seats complete and one Teachers desk and to furnish all materials and labor for the above mentioned work the whole total of good materials and done in a workmanlike manner
And the United States by its agent James Oakes Bvt Brig Genl USA. Sub Asst Commr. Bureau RF & AL in consideration of the above services agrees to pay to the said Joseph M. Page and James Knight the sum of two hundred and eighty five dollars U.S. Currency on the completion of said work. 
No member of Congress, Officer or Agent of the Government or any person Employed in the public Service shall be admitted to any share herein or any benefit which may arise here from.
On Testimony whereof we have hereunto set our hands this day and year aforesaid
