This indenture Entered into this (28") Twenty Eighth day of March AD. 1868 between James Oakes, Col 6th Cavlry Bt Brig Genl USA, Sub Asst. Commissioner
Bureau R F and AL. and his successors in Office, of the first part, for and
in behalf of the United States of America and C. Loomis and E Christian
copartners under the style of Loomis & Christian of Austin of the second part
for and in behalf of themselves, their heirs, executors, administrator & assigns
Witnesseth that the said James Oakes, Col 6th Cavlry Bt Brig Genl USA,
Sub Asst Commissioner Bureau R F and AL for and his successors in office for
and on behalf of the United States of America as said, and the said Loomis
and Christian for themselves their heirs, executors, administrators & assigns
as said; have mutually agreed and do by those present mutually covenant and
agree to and with each other as follows
1st That the said Loomis and Christian for and in consideration of the
covenants herein contained do promise and agree to put up the building
in the city of Austin, known as the Foundry School House as follows -
To remove the partition which separates the two School rooms and to make
and put up a platform fourteen inches from the ground, with two
risers and one step running round the platform.  The platform to
be twenty four feet long and ten wide.  The boards in the partition
to be used as the flooring of the platform
2nd That the said Loomis and Christian shall make the whole
of good materials and execute the work in a workmanlike
manner
3rd  That the said Loomis and Christian shall receive for said
work, on its completion to the satisfaction of the said James
Oakes Col 6th Cavlry Bt Brig Genl USA, Sub Asst Commissioner Bureau R F and AL
at Austin Texas and his successors in Office
The sum of Thirty dollars U S. Currency ($30.00)
4th  That no member of Congress nor any officer or agent of the
United States shall be a diu died to any interest or share in this
