Triplicate State of Texas } County of Travis} This indenture made this eighteenth day of March 1868 by and between the United States of the 1st part and S. Loomis and O. Christian, copartners under the style of Loomis and Christian of Austin of the second part Witnesseth, that the said Loomis and Christian for and in consideration of the covenants herein contained, do promise and agree, to put up the building in the city of Austin known as the foundry as a School house as follows. To make and put up twenty four seat without backs Seventeen inches high- Eleven and a half inches [[strikethrough]] high [[/strikethrough]] wide and nine feet long The whole to be of good material and done in a workman like manner And the United States by its agent W A Rafferty 1st Lieut 6th U.S. Cav &, Sub Asst Comm Bureau RF and as in consideration of the above services, agrees to pay to the said Loomis and Christian, the sum of two hundred and sixteen dollars - U.S Currency on completion of said work No member of Congress, Officer or Agent of the Government or any person employed in the Public Service shall be admitted into any share herein or any benefit which may arise herefrom In testimony whereof we have hereunto set our hands this day and year aforesaid W A Rafferty 1st Lieut 6th U.S. Cav & SAC} Party of 1st Part Loomis & Christian} per E Christian } Party of 2nd Part Witness Henry [[Youices?]] Approved: J J Reynolds Bvt Maj Gen Asst Commissioner
