Articles of Agreement

Entered into this 18 April 1868 between W.G. Kirkman Sub Asst Comr Bureau R.F. & A.L. 58th Sub Dist of Texas at Boston Texas and his successors in office, of the one part for and in behalf of the United States of America and Forrest Hooks of the Town of Boston and the county of Bowie of the state of Texas on the other part for and on behalf of himself his executors, administrators and assigns.

Witnesseth,

That the said W.G. Kirkman for and on behalf of the United States of America, as said and the said Forrest Hooks for himself his executors his executors, admrs and assigns as said have mutually agreed and by these presents mutually covenant and agree to and with each other as follows,

I That the said Forrest Hooks shall complete the church and school House at Myrtle Springs by making twelve additional seat desks and to complete the ceiling of said building, and to purchase window sashes for twelve windows, eighteen lights in each window, agree to put glass in the windows, & further agrees to put a good substantial split board fence around the two acres of land owned by the colored people and enclosing the church, and in addition to said work the said Forrest Hooks agrees to assume the sum of one hundred and forty eight ($148.00) now due on said building,

II that the said Forrest Hooks shall complete said work within sixty days after the approval of this contract by the asst commissioner District of Texas, 

III That the said Forrest Hooks shall receive for said work the sum of two hundred and fifty Dollars, by vouchers for that amount to be certified
