Specifications of school house to be erected at Galveston, Texas

Building   To be of good hard burnt brick, 32x55 feet outside measurement. two (2) stones in height.

Foundation   To be well laid in cement [[strikethrough]] good lime and sand mortar [[/strikethrough]]: to be [[strikethrough]] three 10 [[/strikethrough]] 2 feet below the joist [[strikethrough]] deep [[/strikethrough]] and 4 [[strikethrough]] two (2) [[/strikethrough]] feet thick at bottom tapering to a tan brick wall with a centre wall [[strikethrough]] eighteen (18) inches [[/strikethrough]] two inches thick, of same depth, upon which to rest the joists of the lower floor.

Walls   To be eighteen (18) inches thick from the top of the foundation to the top of the floor of the second floor story, from thence to be twelve (12) inches thick to the ceiling of the second story, with the gables of the same thickness to the ridge of the roof. All girders and joists that are hereinafter mentioned as to be anchored, are to be laid and so fastened as the walls are being built.

Flues   To be eight (8) inches in the clear and carried to a suitable height above the roof and cuped. One on each side of the building; one between the second and third windows and the other between the third and fourth windows on the opposite side.
