Specifications of School houses to be erected at Galveston and Houston, Tex.

Buildings     To be of good hard burnt Brick 32x55 feet outside measurement; Two (2) stories in height

Foundation     To be well laid in good lime and sand mortar; to be three (3) feet deep, and Two (2) feet thick; with a centre wall Eighteen (18) inches thick, of same depth, upon which to rest the joists of the lower floor.

Walls.    To be Eighteen (18) inches thick from the top of the foundation to the top of the floor of the second story; from thence to be Twelve (12) inches thick to the ceiling of the second story, with the gables of the same thickness to the ridge of the roof.  All girders and joists that are hereinafter mentioned as to be anchored, are to be laid and so fastened as the walls are being built.

Flues.    To be Eight (8) inches in the clear and carried to a suitable height above the roof and copied. one on each side of the building; on between the second and third window, and the other between the third and fourth window on the opposite side.  one opening in each flue 3 feet from ceiling on both stories, for a 5 inch stove pipe. the opening
