I have collected from the freed people of Huntsville about $120.00 in specie for the purpose of erecting a school house; a lot can be purchased for a small sum: xxx The collection will I hope, reach the sum of $300.00 with a like amount appropriated by your H [[?]], a fine school can be established. Mar 21st 1867 That there may be no unnecessary delay in organizing a school at La Grange, I beg leave to call the attention of the Supt of Schools to the importance of aiding at once the Freed people in building a house for school purposes at that place.
