1/Includes all large hubs, 14 of 36 medium hubs, and one airport not classified by hub type (Anchorage). The following medium hubs are omitted: Albany, Albuquerque, Charlotte, Des Moines, El Paso Jacksonville, Knoxville, Las Vegas, Memphis, Norfolk, Oklahoma City, Omaha, Orlando, Phoenix, Providence, Raleigh, Reno, Sacramento, San Antonio, San Diego, Tampa and Tulsa.

Forecasts of total departures and enplaned passengers in 1980 were furnished by the Office of Policy Development for all but 3 of 4 airports (memo from PO-1 to RD-600, Aug 4, 1967). Estimates for the remaining three-- Anchorage, Burbank and Oakland were developed by multiplying FY 1966 departures by 2.2, and enplaned passengers by 3.6.

Departures from large hub airports were furnished by PO by aircraft category. Departures from medium hub airports have been allowed here among aircraft categories by assuming no supersonic flights, 15 percent of air carrier flights by airbus, 5 percent by 4-engine jumbo jet. and 80 percent "all other".

Passenger enplanements by aircraft category were estimated by applying 50 percent load factors to PO's estimate of seating capacities: U.S. SST -- 280 seats, Concorde -- 120 seats, 4-engine jumbo jet-- 375 seats, and airbus -- 200 seats.
