APPEARANCE & GROOMING STANDARDS

A. HAIR

1. Style- The hair should be styled for individual uniform hat. Extreme hair styles which are masculine looking, pony tails, french twists, or buns are not permissible. No style will be approved which is not neat and orderly.

2. Length- The hair should be worn close to the head and should not extend below top line of the collar when a stewardess is standing erect. The actual hair must be worn short, and not be placed into a french twist or bun.

3. Condition- Dyes, tints, color, or bleaching rinses, streaks or other treatments affecting the naturalness of appearance are not permitted. If a stewardess is hired with artificial coloring in her hair which has a natural appearance, she is not to change this without consulting the Chief Stewardess.

4. Grooming- To be kept clean, well brushed and neat. A stewardess is required to wash her hair frequently so it does not have an oily appearance. If necessary, dry shampoo should be used between washings to prevent oiliness. However, under no circumstances will dry shampoo be a substitute for frequent washings.

(1) It is to be kept free from straggly ends.

(2) Hair nets shall not be worn, nor combs, hairpins, bobby pins, or barrettes where they are visible.

B. COMPLEXION

Unless your skin is clean, healthy and glowing, it detracts from your appearance and consequently your charm. No amount of make-up can ever cover up a poor complexion. Cosmetics should be used to enhance one's natural beauty and to bring out good points and minimize bad ones. Never try to mask blemishes or to substitute a painted face for a real one. There are 4 important factors that should be considered as skin care:

1. Cleanliness
2. Diet
3. Stimulation
4. Protection
