Office of Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen &c for Robeson Co, Lumberton August 17th 1865

This indenture made the 17th Day of Aug 1865 between Jackson Townsend of the County of Robeson of the one part, and Ann Townsend and her five children and also Jeannie Townsend of the other part witnesseth - that for and in consideration of the payment by the said Jackson Townsend to the said Ann Townsend for herself and her five children of thirty (30) bushels of corn and two hundred 200 lbs of Pork at the end of the present year and to Jeannie Townsend ten, 10, bush corn and 75 lbs of Pork at the end of the year, [[strikethrough]] and & [[/strikethrough]] with the usual rations of food and clothing, [[strikethrough]] Ann [[/strikethrough]] that they the said Ann Townsend and Jeannie Townsend bind and oblige themselves by these presents to truly and faithfully serve until the end of the year the said J. Townsend; obeying all lawful orders that he may give to them with alacrity and respect. The above compensation is for the entire year of 1865  Jackson Townsend
