Lumberton Aug 18th 1865

This indenture made this 18th day of August, 1865 between W. B. Blake of Robeson Co. N.C. of the one part, and Eli King of the aforesaid County [[strikethrough]] witnesseth [[/strikethrough]] of the other part, witnesseth that for and in consideration of the said W. B. Blake paying to him the said Eli King the sum of two doll. & fifty $2.50 of amount money per month commencing with the first day of April 1865, and ending the last day of December 1865, with two prs of trousers, 1 winter coat, one pr. shoes, and one hat. These the said Eli King agrees covenants and binds himself to thy serve with obedience and faithfulness, obeying all lawful orders that may be given him, by the said W. B. Blake for the remainder of the year 1865. This money will be paid by the said W. B. Blake to the said Eli King on or before the first day of January 1865
