Lumberton Aug 18th 1865
This indenture made and entered into this 18th day of Aug - 1865 between Jacob Thompson of Robeson Co of the one part and James Thompson and daughter Sophia Ann, of said county of the other part witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of seventy dollars paid in provisions (meat and corn) with the usual rations of food and clothing paid by the said Jacob Thompson to the said James Thompson for the labor of himself and his daughters during the year 1865. This seventy dollars is to be paid at the close of the present year. It is also understood that the said Jacob Thompson will pay the ordinary doctor bills of said James Thompson & daughter,
