Office of Bureau of Refugees of Freedmen for Roberson County Lumberton N.C. August 25th, 1865

This indenture made and entered into between A A McMillan of the one part and David McMillan and Sandy McMillan and WM McMillan and Isaac McMillan and Nelson McMillan and Peter McMillan [[crossed out]] and [[/crossed out]] on the other, each man herein named representing their families.
Witnesseth that after 75 bushells of corn per head for each of 7 plough animals used in producing the crop. 60 bushells for wear and tear of harness ox 20 bushells of pease used in planting also 6 bushells of corn and 28 bushells of potatoes Subtracted from the amount of corn peas & potatoes. one half of the remainder to go to the farm and the other half to be divided between the above named employees after the other laborers upon the crop are paid out of the whole amount produced.
Also each freedman [[crossed out]] and [[/crossed out]] above mentioned and each member of their family to receive one pair winter pants or dress one coat each for the men and boys one pair shoes each for all the work hands one shirt each for the males and one petticoat for the females also one pair of summer pants to each head of families to work till Christmas to perform a lawful task when working by task and from sun up till sun down one hour reserved for noon, also Saturday afternoon each month for each head of family when not working by task. The said A.A McMillan further agrees to furnish the necessary medical attendance for the above freedmen and their respective families.
