Office of Bureau of Refugees Freedman and Abandoned Lands for Robeson Co

Lumberton Aug 30th 1865

This indenture made and entered in to this the 30th day of Aug 1865 between Jacob Legget of Robeson County of the one part and Sandy Legget, Jim Legget and Liza Legget and Lewis Byrd on behalf of his wife Hannah of Robeson Co of the other part. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the said Jacob Legget paying to the above mentioned Freedmen and women at the following rates. To Sandy the sum of Thirty (30) dollars. To Jim twenty five (25) dollars. To Liza the usual rations of food clothing and ordinary medical attendance. They the above mentioned Freedmen and women do further agree to remain until the first day of January 1866  They the said Freedmen and obligates to render true and faithful service and obey all Lawful orders that the said Legget may give
