Office of Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen &c. Lumberton Robeson Co. Aug 31st 1865 This agreement made and entered into day and date above mentioned between William Rice Planter of Robeson Co. of the one part and Batimore Rice Colored Freedman of the other part witnesseth that the said Will, Rice agrees to pay the said Freedman 12 Bushels corn and the crop which belongs to said Freedman as compensation for his labor since the 27th of April 1865, And the aforesaid Batimore Rice on his part agrees to accept the above compensation [[strikethrough]] of [[/strikethrough]] in full of all demand to date, W Rice Batimore his x mark Rice Approved and witnessed James Sinclair Agent Bureau,
