Office of Bureau of Refugees Freedmen and Abandoned Lands Lumberton Sep 1st 65 This agreement made and entered into this 1st day of September 1865 between Enoch Ward of Robeson Co. of the one part and Squier Carnegie colored Freedman of the other part witnesseth that said Enoch Ward agrees to pay the aforesaid Freedman seven bushels of corn for his labor from the 27th day of April to this date, and [[strikethrough]]they[[/strikethrough]] the said Freedman on his part agrees to receive the above with the corn patch which he has cultivated for himself as full compensation for his services up to date E Ward Squier his x mark Carnegie Approved and witnessed James Sinclair Agent Bureau
