Headquarters Sub Dist of Robeson
Lumberton Sept 19th 1865

This Indenture made and entered into the 19th day of Sept. A.D. 1865 between Archy Baker of the County of Robeson and State of North Carolina of the one part and Peggy Baker in behalf of her son Joe and Virgil Baker of said county of the other part Witnesseth that the said Baker pay the said laborers the following sums to Peggy two bushels of corn and twenty five pounds of bacon To Virgil the sum of five dollars. The said laborers to receive the usual rations of food clothing and ordinary medical attendence. They the said laborers to remain until the first day of January AD 1866 the said Laborers to obey all lawful orders that the said Baker may give as in times past
