Lumberton N.C. Oct. 4th 1865

This indenture made the 4th day of October AD 1865 between Archibald Buie of the county of Robeson and State of North Carolina the first part and the undersigned free labors. of the second part. Witnesseth that the said laborer Viz Alex Blue for his wife and six children shall receive four bushels corn two pairs of Shoes. his wife to have time to make clothing for her children and remain till the first day of January 1866, and the said Alex Blue by these present agrees, covenants and binds himself in behalf of his wife and children, that said wife and children shall render time and faithful service to the said Archibald Buie, that they will obey all his lawful commands and be as respectful in their conduct and Deportment as they were obliged to be when they were his slaves, that they shall be equally respectful and obedient to every member of his white family until the first of Jan next
