Contract for Labor

This indenture, made and entered into the sixth day of June 1866 between William A Dick of the County of Robeson and State of North Carolina, of the first part and the undersigned, free laborer of the second part Witnesseth, That said laboreres have agreed for his wife to work for the said W.A. Dick from this date to the First day of January 1867 to do all kinds of labor common to the farms of the country; to work ten hours per day; to agree that one half of their monthly pay shall be retained by the said W A Dick till the end of this contract, and that the amount so retained shall be forfeited by a violation of this contract. And they further agree, that time lost by idleness, or absence without leave, shall not be paid for. 
And the said William A. Dick has agreed that he will furnish said laborer with comfortable quarters, sufficient rations and food, and the amount of money per month which stands opposite [[strikethrough]] their respective [[/strikethrough]] her name that he will treat [[strikethrough]] them [[/strikethrough]] her kindly, and encourage the establishment of schools for their children.
