Mr. Smith

G/HH

            Paris, July 11th 1958

Dear Mr. Smith,

Your letter to Georges has been opened
by me in his [[?]], as in he should be in London at the May Fair at any time.

From what I know of Mr. Schiff's intentions, he would be willing to part with the Bouchardon, but certainly not at a price below 4.000 net to him.

If you have a client therefore you would have to mention a figure taking care of your interest, and ours (we would be satisfied with a very small percentage), leaving a net 4.000 to Mr. Schiff.

I am writing to you thus to-day, as I feel that I still have the right to dispose of the items which were put up at auction, but I know that the minute the remaining works of art will have been returned to New York, their selling price, unless Mr. Schiff would decide definitely to keep them, would be considerably higher.

I know that a year or two ago, this little marble statuette had been estimated 40.000$ by one of the leading New York firms.

The Bouchardon is still in London, and in fact in the hands of Chenue. I can still leave it there for another few weeks, but probably not later than September.

I hope you will be able to carry out you
