has been rightfully turned over to it by the proper authority and whether Capt Sheridan, Provost Marshal at Baton Rouge, should not be immediately instructed to vacate the property which has been wrongfully kept in his hands. 

It is the intention of this office to open colored schools in said buildings as soon as possession of them is obtained, and the delay caused by Capt. Sheridan is very deleterious to the cause of the Education of Refugees and Freedmen.
