Ship Island Miss
April 8th. 1864.

Lieut Col Piersons,

Dear Colonel.

Appreciating your kind offer to do anything which might be within your power to do for me. I take the liberty to write you. I have bee Prv Marshal of Ship Island Miss since June last and have been on the Island more than one year quite enough of exile for one short life. I am thinking, If I could get some situation under General Bowen in the city where I could be of service, I would like very much to change my place of residence for a short time, more especially on my wifes' account. I flatter myself that I should be able to equip myself with credit in almost any position I might be placed. I would very much like a situation in the Educational Department, if any vacancy exists, as I have been a teacher for several years.

Anything you could do for me Colonel, will be appreciated. Miss[[?]] sends her kindest regards
