The statements above made by Mr. Parks are correct, but need the following explanations. On the morning after the first charge was made by Mr. Parks I was taken sick and Capt. J.R.E. Cox, of the 16th Ind. Vols - was appointed by Gen. Cameron as Actg. Pro. Mar. during my illnes, which position he occupied four days. On the morning I left the office I turned over to Capt. Cox, in presence of my clerk, Mr. Le Blanc, the charges with instructions to make the arrests. On my return to the office Capt. Cap informed me that the arrests had not been made as per instructions received from Gen Cameron. Subsequently the Gen. also informed me that I need not make the arrests as he had investigated the case.
