Mr. Hubbs ordered 5000 Sett of the "School Library" which we have got ready to send, excepting the Boxes and the Freedmans Hand Book. The former we did not order to be manufactured as he wanted wooden boxes, and the cash was very much higher than the pasteboard which the contract called for. And in consultation with Genl Banks whom we had the honor of seeing yesterday, we were glad to know that they were not regarded as essential or indeed desirable. We have manufactured 10,000 of a special Edi of Arithmetic - and 10,000 copies of a special Edi of Spelling Book, together with the other books comprising the list, including the two little books from the Tract Society (5000 ea.) which we can ship immediately upon your order.

The Stereo Plates of the Freemens Hand Book are all ready to print from and has been waiting for Mr. Hubbs return of proofs for the last six weeks. We send you by this mail, a duplicate sett of proofs and shall wait your reply before going further.

We were much gratified with our interview with Genl Banks and much encouraged by his great confidence in the working of his educational Scheme. We left for Washington last eve.

Yours very truly Barnes & Burr
