selected from the other departments, we could at any time withdraw the Excess of pupils in her department, and send them to Miss Williams of Pleasant Street or Elsewhere. The Williams family would not take a Sufficient interest in the Stranger's department to employ underhand methods with the parents and pupils to prevent removals. The question is whether there is a suitable room in this house for another department, there may be for Aught I Know. There are passages or Corridors which would do in summer. If the daughter of Mr Williams is paid anything by the Board, she might be relieved, as Miss René was, in Order to make room for Miss Lobre or Miss Nahar.

Yesterday Afternoon Miss Clarkson's stove was put up by the Congregation.

Today I have to add a few feet of pipe to Miss Ensign's stove and change its position to please Mr Strong, and, perhaps, to prevent its Smoking. Mr Strong refuses to lend her the key which opens the side-door on the street; teachers and pupils must dump down through a half door to go behind, and the pupils of the lower department must annoy Miss Ensign by passing through her room. Miss Ensign informed Dr Newman that Mr Strong wanted to take the school-house from us, but the Doctor replied that Mr Strong would have, first of all to apply to him.

Respectfully
J.H. Ford
