I then went to bayou Lewis, and on Hopkins plantation found a sugar warehouse with a good brick floor. The warehouse is in need of no repair, and will make a very snug school house. Mr Henderson, the manager of the place, promises to accommodate the teacher we send out there. 

I make it a point, when traveling for the Board, of first going to the negro quarters & making inquiries amongst the colored people themselves; they seem to appreciate and feel grateful for the effort the government is making for their mental elevation.
