Eight miles from city of Baton Rouge up the river is a school house but the people are unwilling to have a col'd school taught in it but would like to have a teacher sent to instruct the white children whose parents are poor & have have not had tho' priviledges of school for three years. About an equal number of whites and col'd as this place in number about one Hundred.
