Mr. Austin Tobin
Executive Director
The Port of New York Authority
111 - 8th Avenue
New York, N.Y. 10011

Dear Austin:

The enclosure may interest you. It would seem that the rooftop heliport, in terms of publicity alone, is paying off for all concerned.

In addition, last spring an exceptionally well reputed and objective organization conducted a survey of New York Airways' passengers on the inter-airport (TWA sponsored) services. This survey found that, as a result of the location of NYA's heliport at the TWA Terminal at Kennedy, a great many passengers are being diverted from other airlines to the services of TWA. The survey further indicates that the incremental revenues thus earned by TWA are now running at a rate in excess of $2.5 million per year -- and could be as high as $3.5 million per year. This figure confirms TWA's own forecasts made before the CAB almost two years ago.

While the Pan AM-NYA associated services were not surveyed for the same purposes as were those New York Airways operates in conjunction with TWA, it would seem no more than reasonable to assume that Pan Am is also benefiting substantially in terms of additional passengers -- completely aside from the publicity and advertising value that is uniquely inherent in the roof.

Very truly yours,

Robert L. Cumings
President
