a friendly meeting of minds...

The New York Academy of Sciences is well-known for the warm and friendly greeting it extends to visitors and all those who attend its conferences and meetings. Despite its relatively large membership of more than 19,000 scientists, the Academy retains the spirit of fraternity to scientists. The newcomer to any Academy gathering is attracted to the friendly, relaxed, informal - yet highly professional - atmosphere which prevails at all Academy meetings and scientific conferences.

The new lounge, on the top floor of the auditorium building, will provide comfortable surroundings for scientists to talk in quiet and comfort without the distractions of a hotel lobby. When the meeting or conference has ended in the large auditorium or in one of the eight conference rooms, when the conferees have moved from the banquet hall (with facilities for comfortably serving 1200 people), they will retire to the lounge to continue discussing matters of interest with other scientists of note.

The interdisciplinary nature of Academy conferences is quite singular. No specialized society offers the double advantage of the Academy's monthly Section and Division meetings, which cover thoroughly the individual scientific disciplines, and the renowned international conferences, which are interdisciplinary in nature. With the expanded facilities of World Science Center, all phases of the Academy program can be developed to their full potential.
