towns people have more respect for the husband than they do for her. so I doubt if she could ever get a divorce from him as he seems a good honest man. She has always made a fool of Frank Reynolds no doubt he needs a wife. no excuse though for her. she says her mother was full of passion in her childhood.

I have been trying to mend that little blanket you left here. there does not seem to be much good to it. The Propello children have all been down with colds. Little Jimmie was the worse. his mother has just gone down with him in the carriage with the baby. I guess after she has the next one, the doctor who performs the operation, will fix it so she can't have any more young ones. she told Mrs Barry that she was glad she came home, for she had missed her very much. Pete McGarvey has been poisoned by destroying a lot of ivy that grew over our wall onto his place. so Jackey [[?]] wouldn't be used up again by the darned stuff. our grove he says is full of it. she told him he couldnt expect us to destroy it. "no but it would be the law sometime to have people destroy their ivy." I couldnt help thinking how many trees & stone walls we saw covered with it when we went to Nantasket & Plymouth. a pity its left to flourish but it soon gets away from us. hope your cough is better & you don't work so hard

Love Ma

Transcription Notes:
The cursive is a bit ambiguous at times but it looks like most of the starts of sentences were not capitalized, hence I left it true to the original as much as I could tell.
